Bhote Koshi River Rafting

Bhote Koshi River Rafting"Bhote” roughly translated as “river from Tibet is the main branch of the Sun Koshi River. The river is followed by the Araniko highway so access and scouting is relatively easy. The upper valley above Bahrabise is impressively narrow with steep hill sides shooting up over 2000m from the river. And there are some dramatic and scenic gorges down at river level. Just to drive up the highway and look at the river is like reading an erotic novel – it quickens the blood and excites the mind. Technically, the upper Bhote Koshi ends just after Barbisae where the Sun Koshi joins as a stream from the left: The lower Bhote Koshi rafting start right from the Lamasangu.

Itinearary in Details

Day 01: Our trip begins to 95 km. east from Kathmandu at the starting point of the trip at Lomosangu- Dam. The first 10 km of our rafting is the MOST exciting stretch of the river and then return to the start to play again the same stretch the next day rather than continue with only half a day paddling to the end. Drive back to our camp.

Day 02: After breakfast a quick pack up and set out (approx. 9 to 10 a.m.) a run for a white water hit of class 3 rapid starting from upper section. You have the second chance to prove your effective team work in countering together the awesome challenging rapids. We have lunch on the river and continue action until the take out point at Dolalghat Bazaar about 2 to 3 p.m.

Day 03: Drive back to Kathmandu.
